Drug discovery
Experimental programs for target validation, assay development, hit triage, mechanistic cell biology, and in vivo pharmacology.
We build experimental work packages from early target validation through IND-enabling studies. Our proposals provide clear articulation of the information gained from each experiment and actionable insights derived from their results.
Experimental strategy
Every program begins with the claim under test. We translate it into a model, controls, measurable endpoints, and an analysis plan. Go and no-go criteria are set before the result is known, along with the conditions that would trigger a repeat, a redesign, or a stop.
Target validation
We help teams design confirmatory and ablative experiments, including:
- Genetic and pharmacological knockdowns, rescues, and so on.
- Optimized assays
- Building orthogonal confirmation into the cascade
- Deciding what a compound has to do to earn the next round of chemistry
Cell biology
Cellular work is where a hypothesis first meets a system complicated enough to disagree with it. We design and interpret mechanistic cell biology: target engagement, pathway readouts, selectivity, resistance and escape, and the difference between a compound that kills cells and one that does what you intended. Cell line choice decides more of the outcome than it usually gets credit for.
In vivo study strategy
Animal work is expensive, slow, and easy to design in a way that cannot answer the question. We develop study protocols covering PK and PD alignment, dose and schedule selection, endpoint choice, randomization, blinding, and power calculations. We can also review study conduct and raw results at defined milestones, before an ambiguous endpoint becomes the only endpoint available.
Data review and reporting
A program ends with a traceable package: protocol, methods, quality checks, data, analysis, interpretation, and the limits of the result. Our experimental packages adhere to best practices. We also provide independent review of packages from another CRO, a partner, or an internal team. We read the raw data rather than the summary slides, state what the experiments support, and identify the next study only when another study is warranted.
